Parkinson's Fitness

Overview
The Maui Family YMCA’s Parkinson’s Fitness program works with those living with Parkinson’s disease. The program curriculum consists of exercises that maintain autonomy and combat the hallmark symptoms of Parkinson’s postural instability, muscle stiffness, balance, and mobility issues.

This program offers a non-contact boxing fitness class which also incorporate balance, coordination, and functional movement patterns geared toward fighting back Parkinson’s disease. An All-Levels version is also offered for those with lower autonomy with various chair exercises.

Fitness Orientation

Every member is given the opportunity to go through a free, one-time fitness orientation to go over how to safely operate all our machines and to answer any questions they might have. Appointments last approximately 30 minutes and are entirely free to members. Request an appointment online now below! Once the request has been received, our Fitness Coach will contact you to schedule an appointment.

FIT Pass for Teens

All teens aged 12-17 must have a Teen Fit Pass before using the cardio or weight room.  A parent must accompany their teen during their Teen Fit Pass appointment.  The fitness coach will show you how to use the equipment properly and safely.  A parent must accompany the 12-year-old during their workout.  This applies only to the 12-year-olds.
