Maui Family YMCA Group Swim Lessons Agreement
Regarding Make-up Lessons
Unfortunately, due to high demand, we are unable to schedule any make-up lessons should a participant miss a class on their own accord (i.e. calling out sick, no show, etc.). The only situation where we will schedule a make-up lesson would be in instances where the pool would need an unscheduled closure due to inclement weather, COVID-19 scare, or emergency maintenance, for example. In these cases, all participants will be reached out to, and all will be rescheduled as a group, not individually.
Regarding Payment
Maui Family YMCA will issue full refunds on swim lessons up until the start date of the designated swim sessions or anytime before the participation in the first lesson in a package. After a session has started, a refund cannot be issued unless approved by the Programs Director. Below is a list of approved instances for refunds/credits.
- Maui YMCA will issue a partial credit for any lessons cancelled due to absence of instructor, weather cancellation, or unexpected pool closures.
- Maui YMCA will issue a credit or refund for missing a class due to illness of parent or student with a valid doctors note.
- Maui YMCA will issue refunds for serious concerns regarding lessons. If your child has a bad experience, please let us know. We want to do our best to build strong, confident swimmers.
Thank you for being understanding regarding our swim lesson guidelines. Our guidelines are due to the high demand for lessons with limited spots for everyone. These ground rules help us serve as many program participants as possible. Thank you for registering for Y swim lessons.
Retroactive Refunds
Maui Family YMCA Recurring Program Agreement
I understand that by signing up for this program, I authorize the Maui Family YMCA to add on a monthly charge according to the regular rate of the program every 2nd day of the month. I understand that this is a perpetual charge that will only stop unless I formally submit a cancellation request either online via the Maui Family YMCA Website, in-person with the Maui Family YMCA Welcome Center, or via email to the Program Director. I understand that all cancellation requests must be made at least 30 days in advance of the next scheduled payment in order to stop that upcoming charge.

Expulsion Policy: The YMCA reserves the right to end your child’s enrollment with or without refund if the staff deems in the best interest and/or safety of the camper, other campers, parents or staff. If a child’s enrollment termination is deemed necessary by staff, parents will be informed of reasons for termination.
Check In: The YMCA requires that all children are to be properly signed in by an adult and turned over to a YMCA staff person. This helps ensure the safety of your child. The YMCA does not and will not assume responsibility for children that arrive before the start time at any location.
Check Out: Sign your child out when you pick them up from camp. Please bring a photo ID with you every day. Children will be released only to those on the authorized pick-up list specified on the child’s information sheet. It is the parent’s responsibility to notify the camp of any changes in authorization. Those picking up children should be prepared to show identification to the camp staff member upon request. No child will be released to anyone who is not authorized to pick up that child.
Late Pick-Up: We close promptly at 5:00 PM. For all children not picked up by the end of the program, a late fee of $1 per minute, per child will be assessed. Payment should be made directly to staff on duty, not the Welcome Center. After your third late fee please note that you may be asked to withdraw your child from camp. If you are running late, please notify the camp and attempt to make alternate pick-up arrangements.
Illness Criteria: Children must be healthy enough to participate in the programs daily routine. We do not have the facilities to care for sick children and therefore do not allow them to attend the program. For the safety and comfort of your child, please keep them home until they feel better and no longer present the danger of passing on their illness. Please notify the YMCA if your child or any member of your immediate household develops a communicable condition (as defined by the local health department), such as pink eye, chicken pox or lice. Parents are responsible to notify the YMCA within 24 hours or the next business day. In the case of a life-threatening illness, please notify the YMCA immediately. It is important for us to post a notice to other parents as soon as possible. In the case that your child becomes ill during the program, you will be contacted as soon as possible. If the parent or guardian is unable to be reached, the child’s emergency contact will be notified. It is the responsibility of the parents to arrange for the child to be picked up from the center as soon as possible. Your child may return to camp when they no longer present the danger of passing on their illness or communicable condition.
Accidents/Emergencies: All precautions will be taken to prevent serious health risks to all campers. In the event that a minor injury occurs, First Aid will be administered at the camp location by the camp staff. The following procedures will be followed: First Aid will be provided and the incident recorded in the camp log. The child will periodically be observed after First Aid has been applied. In the event of a medical emergency, immediate action will be taken by the staff as per the policies and waivers. Please be sure to keep these forms updated at all times. If parents or other responsible adults are unable to be reached, the child will be taken to the nearest hospital for any necessary treatment.
Children At Risk: Parents who arrive at the YMCA in an incapacitated condition (i.e. alcohol, drugs) present a risk to their child. The staff in charge will advise the parent of their options regarding the transportation of their child to his/her home. Some options that may be exercised are:
- Call the other parent
- Call another person on the child’s emergency contact list
- Call a nearby neighbor/friend
If a reasonable conclusion cannot be reached, the parent will be advised that either Child Protective Services or the Police will be called.
Code of Conduct: Our Day Camp programs strive to meet the needs of all children without ignoring the demands of any one individual within the boundaries of set guidelines and rules. The YMCA School Age Child Development programs have established rules, consequences and a zero tolerance policy on specific behaviors. The YMCA reserves the right to suspend or expel a child from the program at any time based on the severity of the actions of the child.

In Kids Club, we aim to create a stimulating environment that nurtures children’s natural curiosity and encourages their creativity. Our child-centered approach provides ample opportunities for play and exploration.
Food & Drinks
- Snacks and drinks are allowed in the facility, however, it is important to ensure that all containers are properly marked and sealed to prevent other children from accessing them and exposing themselves to potential allergies.
- Please provide your child with water and a snack. We have a snack fridge located at the front desk with snacks available for purchase. Please remember that snacks are to be purchased by an adult and before drop-off.
Restroom
- Please ensure that your child has used the restroom before dropping them off at Kids Club. While our attendant can assist with restroom visits, we have limited staff to supervise all the children.
- Staff with changing of diapers are not permitted. We kindly ask that you keep your phone with you at all times and be prepared to come to Kids Club on short notice to change your child’s diaper if needed.
Personal Toys/Electronic Device
We strongly advise against bringing personal toys and devices as the Y cannot be held liable for any lost or damaged items. Our room is filled with many toys to entertain them and our staff has numerous activities to keep your child entertained during their visit!
SICK
Children will not be permitted in Kids Club with any of the following symptoms:
- Covid-19
- Vomiting/diarrhea
- Uku’s (head lice)
- Ringworms
- Child’s temperature is over 100 degree
- Stye/pink eye (puss)
- Nasal mucus that can’t be managed by the child that is discolored or heavy, and consistent cough
- Any other contagious illness
If a child who is already in Kids Club starts showing any of the symptoms mentioned above, we will request the parent or guardian to come and immediately pick up the child from Kids Club. Both the affected child and any siblings must leave the Y and remain symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning. If your child has hand, foot, and mouth disease, or covid-19, they must be cleared by their doctor and present a doctor’s note confirming they are symptom-free before returning to Kids Club. This policy is put into place to prevent the spread to other staff & children.
Drop Off Service
- The age restriction for Drop off in Kids Club is 1 year – 12 years of age
- You MUST remain on the property while using Kids Club. Please note that we are not a licensed daycare. If a child is dropped off without a parent or guardian present on the property, we will contact the police, and the child’s eligibility to use our drop-off service will be automatically terminated.
Kids Club is Welcoming to Supervised Visits
- While we highly encourage Drop Off’s, we also welcome supervised visits with your keiki, depending on space availability. Please understand that if the room is full, the staff on duty reserves the right to deny access into the room. This protocol is in place to prevent overcrowding.
- While in Kids club with your child for your supervised visit the 60 minute rule also will be applied to your visit.
- We kindly ask that you engage with your child and refrain from being on your cell phone. If a staff member recognizes that you’re not engaging/supervising your child, you will be asked to leave.
Reservations Required
To avoid overcrowding and ensure proper staffing, we are implementing an online reservation system.
- Kids Club offers a 60-minute session per child per day. Please adhere to the 60-minute rule. If there are multiple violations, a three-strike policy will be enforced. After the third strike, you will be required to take a one-week break from using our services.
- Kids Club services are included in our Family and Single Parent Family memberships
- Any other membership types/Non-Members will pay a drop in rate of $15 per child.
Interruption of Service
- Please be aware that if a situation were to arise regarding staffing or emergencies, Kids Club will be subjected to limit the total number of children OR close due to circumstances beyond our control.
- The Parent or guardian may be called to remove a child from Kids Club due to inappropriate behavior.
- If a child cries continuously for more than 15 minutes, the parent/guardian will be asked to pick up their child from Kids Club.
